FAQs About Ductless Systems
If you want heating and air conditioning in your home but you don’t have ducts built into the home already, there are a few different options for controlling temperatures, including space heaters, window A/C units, and ductless systems. Ductless systems are very popular amongst residential homeowners and commercial business owners throughout Illinois and Indiana. Consider the answers to some of these frequently asked questions about ductless systems, and call our team directly if you’re ready to learn more–
What Is a Ductless System and How Does it Work?
A ductless system is a system that allows you to control the heating and cooling in your home (yes, a ductless system can both heat and cool) without using any ducts. These systems work just like traditional heat pumps – just without ducts that force the air through different rooms of the house. There are two main components of a ductless system: an inside unit and an outdoor heat pump. When it’s hot out, the system will cool air by passing it over refrigerant-filled evaporator coils; in the cooler months, the system will warm the air by absorbing heat and then passing it through the home.
How Long Can I Expect My Ductless System to Last?
Once installed, a ductless system should continue to provide heating and cooling for about two decades, assuming that it receives the proper maintenance and care that it needs for optimal function over the years.
Why Would I Choose a Ductless System Over a Traditional System?
The most obvious answer to this question is that you don’t have ductwork in your home, and installing ductwork would be an expensive endeavor. But there are other benefits to choosing a ductless system, too, including that you can “zone” heat and cool (which means that you can control for different temperatures in different parts of your home). These systems are also more energy-efficient than traditional systems and there is very little energy loss, which means that your energy bills may be lower with a ductless system, too. These systems are also quiet, as well as easy to install and maintain.
